Book Baton Hoopla

Friday, July 22nd, 2005

Nobody should ever really have to do this, and I hate (in a brotherly love kind of way) Justin passing it to me, because I highly doubt any of the memes I pass on will respond. But here it is:

Number of books on the shelf

Roughly 20 (The same as Justin). I use to haev a sidebar which displayed the books I’ve read, but it was outdated and new one’s always arrive

Last book purchased

Firefox Secrets by Cheah Chu Yeow. As a matter of fact, this book hasn’t even come in the mail yet and it’s been a week. So much for Sitepoint lightning fast shipping.

Book reading right now

I’m sort of reading 4 at the same time right now, which I usually never do. I try and limit myself to just one, finish it, then move onto the next. This way I don’t get distracted. However I usually only buy one book at a time. The problem is that I just recently had a birthday and four books came in. So. Right now I’m reading:

Last 5 books read

I’ll just add one more to the list above since I’m currently reading four. The Zen of CSS Design by Molly and Dave.

Meaningful Books

Enders Game by far the most meaningful (excuse the crappy website). All I can say is, nothing beats killing the alien buggers!

This Meme will be passed onto the following:

    Ahhh, it wasn’t that bad, now was it? A little insight into Dustin’s world is good every now and then :)

    I should post a belated musical baton thread. I think the music people listen to is a little more interesting. Really, the only thing I can say that would be interesting to others is the book about Ender.

    Even though the back of the book talks about attacking alien buggers to save the earth, it’s really about the most inner deepest thoughts of a young child and how he overcomes the challenges of an adult - but as a kid. Really cool book. I’ve read it a few times.

    I like the Unix one better, but maybe I’ll check out Enders Game.

    Hot diggity, when did this new layout go up? Looks awesome.

    Sorry for passing the baton to Justin, who passed it to you, and to those whom you will pass it to as well. :)

    Books - who reads books? I read tech manuals for geek products. Like….

    Logic Pro 7
    Ableton Live 5
    Final Cut
    Chrysler Town & Country Limited 2001
    Treo 650

    And magazine articles for MAC freaks.

    @Jason
    No worries. It just feels like a forwarded email - which usually goes straight to the trash. In this case I guess it’s a little different. I feel more obligated to post and pass on.

    @Joedy
    You bought a book on how to use the Treo 650! I didn’t know you were that addicted.

    @All
    Anyone have the slightest info on who started this meme?

    Follow the meme, Dustin, follow the meme.

    There is a break in the baton train, due to something gone haywire on Jason’s blog. I’ll leave you to your devices to patch the lost connection (when you find Michele, you are there).

    Ya know, that little thing took a long time to type out! A nav bar on a live site that I was working on was broken for 30 minutes while I forgot to upload the corrected code in favor of doing the meme :P haha!
