Re-Introducing: The Imagination Prototype Sidebar

Thursday, December 6th, 2007

This is something I’ve been wanting to do for a really long time as a “side-bar” to my website. The idea is fair and simple, and promotes the spirit of prototyping. Not to mention, you get linkage from this website! I have long been an advocate of “the prototype,” by which I mean, a semi-half-baked functioning Whatchamacallit using web development technologies. Let it be HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Flash, Canvas, or SVG. If it’s JavaScript, let it be YUI, jQuery, Prototype, Dojo, Mochikit, no library, the choice is up to you. The point is, you’ve built something, and you’re proud of it. Submissions need not even be cross-browser.

So let’s have ‘em. If you’ve got something you would like to submit, click the link submit a prototype directly underneath the list of Prototypes. If you’re interested in seeing what rolls in, subscribe to the RSS feed. My hope is that we’ll see submissions daily. Nevertheless, the entries will be moderated and will not show up on this site (or the RSS feed) until I have approved them.

Happy Prototyping! Now let’s see some cool widgetry!

Get "JavaScript Design Patterns"

"As a web developer, you'll already know that JavaScript™ is a powerful language, allowing you to add an impressive array of dynamic functionality to otherwise static web sites. But there is more power waiting to be unlocked--JavaScript is capable of full object-oriented capabilities, and by applying OOP principles, best practices, and design patterns to your code, you can make it more powerful, more efficient, and easier to work with alone or as part of a team."

Submit a prototype

By checking this prototype I agree that I am not submitting false credentials, pornography, or a hate crime website. I also understand that by submitting my entry I may or may not be accepted, and if accepted, my entry may be taken down at any given time if I violate these terms.
