Naked ‘08
The third annual CSS Naked Day is back in full swing. Sign ups have began for the event that will bring the web back to the nude on April 9th, 2008. Please take special note that the date is different (reason explained on the official site). If you want to sign up, please use the sign up form on the official website.
As a reminder, CSS Naked Day is a world-wide event that lasts for one international day (48 hours) where webmasters around the globe strip CSS from their websites to promote Web Standards with layered semantic markup, and a clear separation between content, and presentation to enhance accessbility.
Cheers!

I’ve just updated the CSS Naked Day plugin for WordPress, which Bramus! mentioned above. You could download it from the WordPress plugins database site to save you from the hassle of updating it on your own. Thanks!

I checked my site this morning and it was already naked! The eager beaver has now been updated and is ready to rock on the 9th.
I’ve got a few of my friends to sign up this year so let’s hope it’s bigger and better than ever!

Onboard.
Have missed the opportunity to be naked in public for the past two years, not missing it yet again.

Cant wait for Naked CSS day. Looking forward to my first nudist experience.

Hello, Mr. Diaz
I’d translated this year’s naked day in “Thai” also you can check out by following URL below:
http://www.forum.thaicss.com/viewtopic.php?t=70
thank you
April 5th, 2008 at 8:29 am
Yes, count me in!
April 5th, 2008 at 9:57 am
I updated the Rails plugin too
I think that though the reasons for changing the date are valid, the confusion it caused might hurt.
Maybe we could come up with a deterministic, programmable date? (first Tuesday after April 1?) Then we wouldn’t be running around updating our code, or showing wrong information, like the date under the header on the official site shows!
April 5th, 2008 at 10:27 am
Hey guys,
thanks a ton for updating the various plugins and doing the translations. That is super cool.
Dave, If you haven’t already, be sure to sign up on the official page.
Daniel,
Jim (commented above) developed a Naked Day Timer Class in PHP, but there is an available JSON config file anyone can ping on Google code for this. Just check the day property on the object :)
That file will be updated appropriately.

I think it is unfair to have page naked.dustindiaz.com disallowed in robots.txt, so search engines does not index this page and of course backlinks to webs taking part. But all webs taking part have links (most of them WITHOUT nofollow) to this website… I think you know what I’m trying to say…
April 5th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
Hi Martin,
Actually, I don’t know what you’re trying to say?
If you check out the file
http://naked.dustindiaz.com/robots.txt
I have the following:
Since the Naked Day website is a super highly trafficked site, this will keep the bandwidth lower for me.
Nevertheless, it doesn’t stop Google from finding the site. All the links on it do not include rel=”nofollow” either. Nevertheless, if that’s what your main concern is, I think you might have lost the real spirit of what this is all about. If you have an alternative suggestion, I’m all ears :)

The 48 hours period started about 35 minutes ago! My sites is nekkid!
April 8th, 2008 at 10:02 am
My geeky friends and I were discussing this earlier in the month, we were worried that it wasn’t going to happen this year!
I will be taking part again this year. As I’ve recently redeveloped my entire site - ‘porting it back to WordPress - it will be interesting to see where my strengths and weaknesses lie in terms of semantics. I’m only doing the local 24 hours instead of the international 48 though.. still not brave enough for that ;)
Enough rambling, I just wanted to say thanks for organising it again this year :)

Hello, Dustin!
As it appears that automatic pings to your blog do not work, here’s a manual link to my ‘naked blog post’ for 2008:
www.optimiced.com/en/2008/04/09/css-naked-day-2008/
In it you may read that my blog is naked again, promoting Web standards, but also not only the blog, but me, too! :-D
Cheers, Michel

hey, this looks like Ze Original InternetsTM !!
naked day is a great project, showing for example how a clear semantic structure makes your website understandable no matter which design it’s wearing.

Although I see sites naked as a developer often it’s really hard to navigate through them if you really have no other choice.
Wouldn’t it be better if we use tables again? ;)
