When you stop posting…

Saturday, March 25th, 2006

Your stats will go down. Having this obsessive compulsive (and unhealthy) relationship with my stats, I knew it was going to be no surprise that after making the decision to post less and focus on outward things away from this blog, my stats would take a dive. Check this out.

Stats going down hill

Hmm…yeah that is quite a drop. I’m sure it will pick back up at some point.

I love how measure map allows you to see the relationship between your posts and your visits and comments.

Now lets see if this post will cause your stats to jump again.

What’s the overall growth like? I think you’ll find that with the material you have, people will come along (from se’s) and bookmark it and such and it just starts to snowball, to the point where post bumps aren’t quite so noticeable. At least that’s what happened with me; traffic just keeps growing, and I post in weird bursts…

Keep in mind that LOTS of people read your feed, and will stay subscribed even though you are posting less. Even if people visit your site a bit less often, they’ll still see what you have to say when you do post.

Don’t worry about the silly stats, my man. :)

I still think it comes down to quality, not quantity. Your podcasts are very informative and definitely out of the normal sphere of how to assimilate web design information. I really think that your format will eventually bring just as many if not more people.

Don’t worry Dustin, my outgoing users stats say thay you get some traffic from my blog;>

Too bad that measuremap doesn’t accept registration, I’d love to track my blogging this way.

If you're about to post code in your comment, please wrap your code with the tag-combo <pre><code>. Also please escape your html entities - otherwise they will be stripped out. I recommend using postable.

"As a web developer, you'll already know that JavaScript™ is a powerful language, allowing you to add an impressive array of dynamic functionality to otherwise static web sites. But there is more power waiting to be unlocked--JavaScript is capable of full object-oriented capabilities, and by applying OOP principles, best practices, and design patterns to your code, you can make it more powerful, more efficient, and easier to work with alone or as part of a team."
